Free Water

Free Water Dysfunctional Water Department Results in High Water Bills explained by Cleveland Home inspector MarkoVovk. Calling a public unity company is a huge challenge. Plan on a computer generated prerecorded message and listening to elevator annoying music before a scrip reading employee answers the phone. You explain, that a city scrap dealer removed the copper brass water meter and that water is pouring out of the main one inch pipe. You tell them that water is gushing out at one gallon per second which is 86,000 gallons per day. A crew shows up the next day and is unable to turn the water off because someone other scrap dealer stole the steel exterior water meter cap and some soil fell into the main exterior shut off valve. They transfer you to another department and after listening to more annoying backround music, they tell you that is it Friday, and that they will come out again on Monday to analysid the situation. During this time, the basement is getting destroyed and you attempt to clean the debris out of the water shut off yourself. One Monday, four days later, the water department still does not shut off the water because Monday is a governmental holiday. You continue to call and continue to listen to more elevator music. Finally, after 5 days and roughly 450,000 gallons of municipal water wasted, the water department finds out that the water department crew along has been turning off the wrong water shut off. The city workers finally located the real water shut off and turn the water off. This makes you wonder, why scrap dealers buy water stolen meters, manhole covers, and cupper pipes from when they know that a theft has occurred. Finally, this makes you wonder why you have high water bills. Please rate and subscrie. You can also get more information at my website link below at http://houseinvestigations.com/

Now you know why we have high water bills.

Your Electrical Panel Can Burn Down Your House

Your electrical panel can burn down your house. Hidden problems in electrical panels can burn down homes. Most basements have negative pressure caused by cold air returns are not sealed with furnace tape. These return ducts with small holes suck your basement, especially, if the door leading to the basement is closed. These depressurized basements suck, air from wall cracks, appliance vents, fireplaces, sump pumps, and electrical panels which is the focal point of this Marko Vovk video. Basement foundation walls are colder because they are underground and the unconditioned sucked in warm – moist air condensates within the cold electrical panel causing rust. Rusted panels can cause fires. Many electricians misdiagnose rusted or corrode panels as water leaking in or dripping in. Repairing these problems is simple. Seal the basement cold air returns, open several basement supply heat registers to help slightly pressurize basement, change the door to the basement to a louvered door and remove the rust form electrical panel. Amazing Shipping and Handling

Amazing shipping and handling. UPS Ground sent Cleveland home inspector Marko Vovk a package. The house Inspector bought some home inspection moisture pins from a Company called Professional Equipment. They called him back after he purchased the moisture pins and said that they had to add a small fee for shipping and handling. The pins are the size of an Oreo cookie. They packed this small sized object first in an oversized envelop, then in an oversized box and finally in a huge box.

Flooded Ductwork Makes Lady Sick From Black Mold Bacteria by Cleveland Home Inspector Marko Vovk

Lady becomes sick from flooded HVAC under slab ductwork. House Scene Investigation ( HSI) discovers that flooded ductwork exists under the concrete slab. Cleveland home inspector Marko Vovk and special guest Jim Roby an IAQ Mold Expert from STS Technology investigates the condensation on windows and mold growth on walls. When the new homeowner purchased the home, the disclosure was very vague. The backyard was wet with a natural spring. Backyard is wet a may have a high water table. This means that water soil pressure (hydrostatic) existed under the concrete slab. The investigator installed temperature, humidity, and dew point USB computer probes throughout the home. The probes identified where the moisture source was coming from. The probe data was downloaded and the results were studied. From the probe data, it was determined that the home moisture source was coming from the soil below the slab. The exterior inspection revealed that water was running down the east downspout splash block. The driveway had a negative slope and permitted the water to run back towards the west foundation. The water entered the driveway foundation interface crack. The front of the home also had poor grading and water was ponding at the foundation. The back of the home also had water ponding at the foundation. These poor exterior water management conditions along with a potentially high water table permitted hydrostatic pressure to push water under the homes slab and into the HVAC ductwork. We located the supply main HVAC trunk plenum duct. This main supply plenum duct traveled though the concrete floor slab and traveled under the first floor concrete slab. This main HVAC plenum duct was connected to 6 other supply ducts that traveled under the concrete floor to all the house rooms. We had to cut a hole into the under concrete slab duct to gain access. The high water table, along with the poor exterior water management permitted water to enter into the homes supply ductwork. The ducts were full of mold, bacteria, bio-sludge, bio-growth, and other pollution. Every time the HVAC system was turned on, the home was contaiminated with airborne bio-dust, mold spores, and airborne bacteria. Furthermore, the air had high humidity and was permitting mold growth on walls, ceilings, and cabinets. We used moisture meters to test all the walls and ceilings. We also tested all the walls and ceilings for surface temperature. We found that the coldest areas in the home, had mold, past condensation, and past drywall repairs. The closets, cabinets, and the north side of the home were roughly 5 degrees colder, and when the indoor humidity was high, dew point condensation would occur on cold days. Dew point condensation led to mold and drywall rot. The north east lower corner was the coldest corner in the home, and it had many repair drywall patch histories. It was obvious that previous homeowners battled this water, moisture, and condensation problem. The ceiling also has mold on the outer exterior perimeter. These areas were also cold due to wind-washing which is a term used when the attic insulation gets blown and moved away making the drywall ends colder. Mold grows on these cold areas first. Furthermore, the home has an attic access panel that was not insulated, sealed, or weather-stripped and moist heated air would rise into the attic permitting condensation during cold days, resulting in attic sheathing mold.

In conclusion, repairing this home will not be easy. One repair method that may be successful, would be filling the under slab ductwork with concrete. Changing furnace from a down flow to an up flow. Installing all new overhead supply ducts in all rooms, and adding several return ducts. The new ductwork should be sealed and insulated so thermal bridging, thermal bypass, or heat loss does not occur. The exterior foundation would need to be waterproofed and an exterior dewatering sump pump should be added to lower the ground water elevation. The home would need proper mold mitigation, entire home sanitizing, repair of all thermal bypasses, repair of all thermal bridging, and finally HVAC balancing. These types of repairs are complicated and should only be attempted by building science contractors or consultants. Please rate and subscribe. Please go to http://

Tomato Greenhouse Shut Down by EPA, NAFTA, Campbell Soup, FLOC, and White Fly

Cleveland Home Inspector Marko Vovk discovers a new ecosystem in the abandoned, and now shut down Otto greenhouses, caused by too much government and too much regulation. Many years ago, the Otto family employed many local people that lived in city of Ceylon Ohio which is located near Huron, Sandusky, and Vermillion. These local employees worked in many of the greenhouses cultivating plants, flowers, vegetables, and tomatoes. To understand why and what happened to the Ohio Tomatoes Greenhouse Farmers, one needs to look at all the problems, setbacks, and restrictions that have been plaguing the Ohio tomato industry for the last 40 years.
It started in the 1970’s with the Campbell Soup Company which began to purchase tomatoes from Mexico because they did not want to pay the higher tomato prices that resulted from the 1968 union formation of FLOC “The Farm Labor Organizing Committee”, which required better wages and better living conditions for the migrant workers. Then the (EPA) Environmental Protection Agency imposed coal fired boiler restricted sulfur dioxide emission policies which today are so stick that they are causing the shut down of many American coal-fired electric generation plants, and causing the layoffs of thousands of coal miners. It won’t be long before your electric bill will be higher than your mortgage bill. Then came the tomato small “White Fly” ,which attacked the tomato plants throughout OHIO. The University scientists, professors, and Administrators were too slow in studying the White Fly, because they were too busy doing things that are more important like rewriting American history books and increasing collage tuition. Ffinally, the 1994 (NAFTA) North American Free Trade Agreement removed import tariffs on Mexico, permitting Mexico to now export 5 billion per year in vegetables including tomatoes and tomato pasts to the USA. It is no wonder why Ohio tomato farms went from 30,000 acres in the late 60’s to less than 5000 acres in 2010.
According to some sources from the internet, the Otto’s, wanted to pump in free Lake Erie water to water their tomatoes instead of using the expensive city water. Allegedly, and according to the internet, a local plumber installed one of the pump pipe valves backwards which resulted in flooding hundreds of the residential basements causing major damage. When we spoke to one of the Otto family members about this event, they said that this story was not accurate. They stated that “the straw that broke the camels back” was it to took too long for the local University scientists to come up with methods to control the devastating white fly that was killing the tomato plants.
As you can all see from this video, indoor greenhouse tomato farming shut down but Mother Nature is still alive and well. Foliage continues to grow so good that it outgrows the greenhouse roofs. Some of the trees growing through the glass roofs are already 18 inches in diameter. The greenhouse broken panes of glass permits rain entry, bird entry, vermin entry, mammal entry, bee entry, and insect entry.
While in the green-houses, you could hear woodpeckers pecking, birds chirping and groundhogs digging. If you spend a night, you may be lucky to see coyotes hunt vermin.
What has happened to the Otto’s and Ohio tomato farming has happened to other industries through-out America. America is being downsized. Too much government and too much regulation have hurt the American business man. Wait, I am sorry, the word American may soon be removed from some of our history books. The Texas state board of education has proposed to change the word American with Global Citizen. That’s right folks, soon you will no longer be Americans but rather global citizens.
